Jana Feifer was destined to be a designer;
you could even say it was in the genes. Born in Brooklyn to a designer
mother, Jana cut her teeth on style. Jana is even named after a
popular accessory designer of the 1960's. Jana's career in fashion
began in 1998 when she founded Bloom, a promotional products development
company, where her clients included Donna Karan, DKNY and Calvin Klein.
Not satisfied with designing for others, Jana decided to start her own
accessories company in 2001. Called Jana Feifer, the line of contemporary
handbags, was sold in stores like Bergdorf Goodman and specialty boutiques.
In 2002, Jana launched JAM by Jana Feifer, a collection of initial themed bags
and travel accessories. The collection was an instant success with retailers and press and Jana was credited as the
originator of the initial bag phenomenon. Jam by Jana Feifer fans include Halle Berry, Oprah Winfrey, Mary-Kate and
Ashley Olsen, Lisa Rinna, Christina Applegate, Hilary Duff, Katie Holmes, Britney Spears, Nicole Kidman, Renee Zellweger
and Gwen Stefani.
In 2005, Jana took her collection in a new direction. Taking inspiration
from the designs of the late Bonnie Cashin, Jana concentrated on a vintage feel for her collection. The color palette
for fall ranged from kelly greens and cognacs to chocolate browns and purples. Jana also incorporated fabrics like
tweed and fur along with supple Italian leather. Her shapes for the season included; bucket bags, clutches and totes with
pocket details.
Now Jana is at it again with her newest line, Love Luggage Joint. We hope you enjoy the new directions
and destinations her designs will inspire.
Jana Feifer is based in Los Angeles.
